Solution provider

Slowd is a strategic design firm, aimed to develop cultural and technological solutions to enable new and highly interconnected local production systems and communities, facilitating the access to innovation especially to small businesses. We run two fab labs where we experiment bottom-up innovation practices and projects, believing in technology as a tool for inclusion and democracy.

This project was born from the experience of the Agrotech Community at Makers Modena Fab Lab (that we manage in partnership with public-private institutions), so the team is composed by both Slow/d's designers  and Agrotech Community members (agronomists, engineers, farmers and nerds).

Slow/d deals with strategic design and highly specialized production chains, supporting businesses and public institutions in the development of sustainable and innovative product paths.

It is globally recognized for its web platform for "Kilometer Zero Design", aimed to link product designer, small-medium enterprises and end customers, building a peer-to-peer supply chain, democratic and sustainable, providing for the first time systematically access to innovation for SMEs and supporting designers in bringing their ideas to market.

In October 2013 won one of the Working Capital innovation grants awarded by Telecom Italia (15 awards of more than 2000 applications), which is a research partner.

Slow/d has been also winner of the Honorable Mention at the XXIIIrd Premio Compasso d'Oro ADI for service design (it's considered as the "Oscar Prize" for the design industry) and  recognized as a 2017 Social Design Circle Honoree by the Curry Stone Design Prize.

Since March 2013, Slow/d holds the status of Innovative Startup (as for the Italian Decree Law 18 October 2012, 179).
