The Sementusa idea was born in 2002 when Dr. Argiolas (founder of Sementusa Tech) started using ultrasound during his work at the sheep farm. Day by day, he observed the benefit of early diagnosis of pregnancy in sheeps and goats, as this was generating a simpler sheep farm management and a higher income for farmers.

In 2010 Dr. Argiolas implemented the first training course for veterinary to teach the benefits of the Sementusa approach. To date, 27 training course batches have been performed in Sardinia. In 2011, after 10 year of tests in Sardinia, the Sementusa Approach has been tested in 5 sheep farms in Sicily. All these sheep farms have different characteristics regarding geographic positioning, population and breed of sheep. In all of these sheep farms, Sementusa reached brilliant results. This result has confirmed that the Sementusa approach can be applied in other places, so it’s scalable and reproducible.

In 2013 the Sementusa approach has been applied in Sicily to confirm the its benefit  in the sheep farm management process. During this project, the following research paper was published: Improvement of reproductive performances with a combined strategy (Sementusa®) in sheep farms in sicily. Large Animal Review, 20(5):209–213, 2014.

During this project, the first version of Sementusa Mobile Application was developed and was named Sementusa Mobile. The veterinary is the target user for Sementusa Mobile Application. To date, Sementusa Mobile has evolved in its third version to meet the request of veterinarians during their daily work. Now, for Veterinarians, became necessary for monitoring constantly the sheep farm.

In 2016, Sementusa idea was presented to #TimWcap start-up competition and was selected and incubated by Tim Wcap Accelerator of Catania for its innovative potential in the agrifood sector, so SementusaTech S.r.l. was founded.
