Slawek Foundation is a nonprofit NGO realizing the difficult mission of assistance to people in prison, former prisoners, youngsters and their families. It operates since 1998. From the very beginning Foundation is focusing on individual approach and comprehensive suport to it’s beneficieries. The organization was founded by the Łagodziński family - Mark, Danuta, Isabella and Christopher. During 17 years, the Foundation has developed a number of programs and support models to allow effective social and vocational rehabilitation of offenders.
Our flagship programs are: "Testimonies" - former prisoners who have made changes in their lives in freedom are giving speaches in prisons about how once they lived and through which decisions their life has changed; "Guardian Angel" - former prisoners assist people who are currently serving their sentences for the pass (often the first after 20 or more years); "Family Counseling" - a program to assist former prisoners and their families providing access to psychological counseling, educational, civic, professional and mediation; "Read to Me ..." - program for children of parents in prisons during which offenders read stories for their children, provide them words of love and support. Fairy tales are recorded on a CD and sent to their families; "Pilgrim" – prisoners and ex-prisoners are walking on pilgrimage to holy place - Jasna Gora and take care of people with disabilities. The Foundation collaborates with the Prison Service, Ministry of Justice, Probation and other NGO’s to continuously search for, development and implementation of effective methods of rehabilitation and social reintegration of sentenced and to create a system of Polish post-penitentiary aid. The organization also runs a Centre for Rehabilitation and Social Re-adaptation in which accommodation, meals and support programs are privided to people leaving prisons and detention centers.
Since its inception, the organization engaged in economic activities leading social economy initiatives and supporting the development of the sector in Poland. From the first years of operation until 2014 we raned a car repair shop "Fun Service", in which prisoners and ex-prisoners could find education and employment. Those employees currently lead the workshop alone with success. The Foundation also implemented service contract on the construction market by creating construction teams. In recent years, in the cooperation with business we conducted training activities realizing soft and vocational training for disadvantaged groups. Currently, big dream and goal of the Slawek Foundation team is to achieve financial independence through the creation and maintenance of Poland's first (and one of the few in europe) Goji plantation.
