Diretto Employment Services is a social impact startup and we are addressing the challenge of lack of employment and network amongst immigrant populations. For integration to happen it’s important that people from different backgrounds; well-established and newcomers, have a chance to meet and that this meeting is beneficial for both parties. Entrepreneurs and employers are not aware of skills and talent in the immigrant population and the immigrant population are unaware of what kind of jobs there are in their new society. Getting an income and having a job is crucial to integration and self-esteem. The first job is the most difficult to get.

Solution
Diretto Employment Services provides a platform for peer to peer employment. It provides a way for private individuals to easily and correctly hire help in their home. Getting a first job and recommendations via “gig employments” for private individuals is not as difficult as getting a job at a company but it’s a very important step to integration. Working in a home is a good starting point. The job seeker can use existing formal or informal skills and this type of jobs are more similar in character from one country to another rather than work in a company. It provides a possibility to get an income, practice the language, understand the culture, grow ones network and get recommendations. Well-established individuals are often very busy and it’s useful to get help with for example cooking for a party at the same time as it feels good that you can help someone to get a possibility to work and get a reference.

On the Diretto platform you can find someone to employ for a short job or on a more continuous basis. The platform has crowdsourced validation through recommendations both of the employer and employee. The platform automates the administration and payments required by the employer and ensures that the rules regarding working hours and minimum wages are adhered to. The employer pays in advance, the platform holds the payment until the job is carried out. The platform has an accident insurance for the person who works. Private employment has the advantage of being the most economical way of hiring help in the home. Especially in the Netherlands if it’s less than 3 days per week.

For this project we want to adapt the platform to suit the Dutch regulations on working hours minimum wages and set up of contracts. We want to do a market survey, establish partnerships with local communities, organizations and influencers. We want to create marketing material such as success stories as well as test and launch the platform.
