Solution provider

WisR is an online platform matching young entrepreneurs and companies with elderly and retired people (Silver Agers) for project-based and part-time work. So on the one hand, Silver Agers get re-integrated into society and experience appreciation and on the other hand, companies regain access to their experience and expertise that otherwise would have been lost.

The Problem:

Today, humans live longer than ever before. By 2030, 50% of the population in Europe will be over the age of 50. Highly qualified seniors will be retired, jobless, purposeless, and socially marginalized, which can lead to depression and fomenting disease. At the same time, companies will lack a proper labour force and expert knowledge. Pension and social systems are very likely to collapse under the pressure of an unbalanced society.

However, more and more people want to continue being professionally active once they reach retirement age. Many want to improve their retirement income, but most want to find meaning, fulfilment, and social integration which in the later life phase plays a more important role. Nowadays, many men and women do not want to retire - they look for modern ways to pass on their knowledge and experience. According to a survey by Dr. Leopold Stieger (seniors4success.at), 50% of Silver Agers want to continue working actively.

There are very few companies that perceive the elderly as more than just consumers. Silver Agers are idea-generators thanks to their individual and life-long experience. Competition, labour shortage, lack of know-how, and the flexibility of the younger generation are just a few reasons as to why it will be increasingly important to integrate the elderly into the labour market. This creates high social, political, and economic value for the labour market and leads to a competitive advantage for companies.

Our solution:

The WisR platform will help job seeking seniors who are willing to find a way back into society. It will be a place where the young and old can connect, exchange knowledge and expertise, and benefit from each other. With a sustainable concept and business model, WisR will focus on the employability of elderly and the knowledge transfer from one generation to the next. We want to raise awareness for re-thinking age and acknowledging the ageing population as a competitive advantage rather than a burden.

WisR has 2 goals:

  1. To integrate Silver Agers’ know-how and experience in the labour market and within companies.
  2. To help Silver Agers find an exciting and meaningful activity so that they can participate in shaping the future and experience appreciation.
