With eight years’ experience in teaching and guiding adolescent students at risk in secondary, higher and Special Needs Education, I have come to witness first-hand the social challenges migrant-origin students face in their quest for inclusion and integration into a country.  This experience and perceived inequalities especially regarding newly arrived migrants and their future employment and schooling opportunities, drove me into pursuing a PhD degree in Psychology and Migration studies at the Institute of Education, University College of London. What sets me apart from other researchers in the field is my altruistic motives for change in society where a combination of consummate theoretical and practical knowledge enables me to provide holistic solutions to matters on both local and global scales.

Several lines of inquiry appear important when it comes to migrant youth and their inclusion in the European Member States today. Despite vast research being devoted to the field, one of the most pressing issue is how to reduce the risk of marginalization and social exclusion among migrants, especially newcomers. My research and teaching background has provided me the knowledge and tools to help grassroots organizations like Give a Chance fulfil their goals and empower individuals and societies with long-lasting effects. Together we have been able to 1) identify risk factors in education contributing to the marginalization of migrant youth, 2) match young migrant job-seekers at the risk of exclusion in the labor market with employers in need of skilled employees and 3) educated both employers and employees on how and why the integration and inclusion of migrants and especially newcomers in the labor market affects society as a whole.
