ARCA- Romanian Forum for Refugees and Migrants


ARCA - The Romanian Forum for Refugees and Migrants is a Romanian based non-governmental organization founded in 1998 with the scope of defending and promoting the rights of refugees, asylees and other categories of migrants and maximizing their potential in Romania.

We have the following organizational goals:
-to assist clients in achieving legal status and economic self-sufficiency and becoming fully active participants in the social and civic life of our society
-to give voice to our clients to influence decision-makers and enact change at the policy level
- to build the capacity of public officials and civil society on refugees' and migrants' rights and increase public awareness around the issues confronting these people
-to support the social and cultural integration of young people with refugee and migrant backgrounds.

The main activity areas to achieve the above goals are the provision of:
-legal counseling and social service delivery (including case management, financial assistance to vulnerable individuals, housing, employment and vocational counseling, family reunion, naturalization, and citizenship acquisition)
-language training and cultural orientation
-advocacy on issues affecting our clients' rights, capacity building and training on integration-related issues, human trafficking etc.
-youth activities.

ARCA's organizational structure comprises of four departments: the Integration Department, the Legal Department, the Youth Department, and the Financial Department overseen by an Executive Director. Activities are carried out by 20 employees working full or part-time depending on the nature of their job in the organization’s office in Bucharest and in the six Refugee Reception Centres throughout the country.
