The education Center was founded in 1947 and has a very long Tradition in  long life learning. Its main aims are to provide support for sustainable development of regions in the surroundings of the city and local communities. The vhs Pforzheim activities focus on supporting adult learners, equality and non-discrimination, supporting new starters, the promotion of culture, art, intercultural learning and Integration of migrants into the society by teaching people working in this context.
These aims are attainable through conducting researches, providing training and consulting , preparing new educational projects also co-founded by EU fund, and organizing a broad range of cultural and educational events and offering special teacher training with the focus on teaching learners with a migrance background.  The vhs Pforzheim has the status of an adult training institution.  
 The director and the educational staff  are also experienced as trainers in educational areas; they are conducting lectures and workshops with universities students, adult learners, teachers and provide training and consultancy on setting up new concepts for migrants. 
The vhs Pforzheim has a large network of international partners like for example the dvv international, the University of Palermo.
