Improve efficiency of social treatment of mental disability in order to decrease medical treatments or, at least, the non-accepted side effects such as behavior disorder
Socio educative support aims at putting the disabled person at the centre of its own social integration process. Making with the person instead of making for the person. It is crucial to acknowledge the skills and resources of the disabled person, responsible for one’s choices and actions.
We are seeking a solution enabling mental disabled's carers to observe and monitor patients behavior and intervene in a prompt and preventive way whether needed. A prompt reaction would eventually help decrease medication.
The tool is to be used by all the actors intervening on the every day journey of the mentally disabled person. Carers, family, work staff. La Ferme Enchantée de Merlin promotes social inclusion for mentally disabled people, whether they are institutionalized or not, through artistic activities, farming, bee keeping,... They connect different actors, local authorities, individuals, public organisms for activities such as shared gardens projects or exhibitions.
The solution would be used by La Ferme enchantée de Merlin (Tournai area) at first but the aim is to spread the solution to as many actors as possible.
The team of “La Ferme Enchantée de Merlin” has a long and wide experience in supporting disabled people. They work on the practical sides of support and also on drafting legal texts to enforce rights an inclusion of mentally disabled people.
Philippe Dubois will be following the development of the proposed solutions. He has a 20 year experience in the field, managing operational teams with one main goal: promoting the emancipation of mentally disabled people.
A digital tool could improve the efficiency and speed of the communication between carers, families, and all the different actors around patients with mental disabilities. It would allow tailored follow up for every patient and therefore personalised care.
-Develop a digital management tool that takes into account every parameter of the efficiency of the support to mentally disabled people.
-This development takes into account the UNCRPD definition of disability. It puts forward the socio-educative approach to their support. The fine assessment of adaptive behaviour will lead to sensible medication of mentally disabled people.
