atempo Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. is a private non profit organisation owned by the non profit atempo association. atempo offers various training and learning facilities for people with learning difficulties and disabilities in Graz and several services for assisting members of this target group to get jobs on the first labour market. On the other hand atempo offers services and products which obtain its certain quality out of the fact that people with learning difficulties and disabilities are involved in the production and delivery.

The aim of all atempo activities is to work towards equalisation of people with learning difficulties and disabilities. Besides atempo works to remove barriers hindering people with learning difficulties and disabilities to take part in society as equal citizens.
Via its work within many European project partnerships atempo cooperates with many similar organisations and initiatives all over Europe.

In their organisation atempo has 3 departments: capito, Nueva and education and carreer

capito is Italian and means “I have understood”. Capito produces information products which are “easy to read” or “easy to understand” and barrier free in terms of technical accessibility. The capito method and quality standard are based on an elaborated set of criteria and rules and are connected with the GERS, the European Frame of Languages. Thus capito does not only provide “easy to read” information but throughout its model of stages offers ways (back) to the world of reading for people with low language skills as well.
Furthermore capito offers consultation in the field of physical accessibility, accessibly tourism and regional development.

We have experiences in
• transregional leader projects (Tourism for All)
• consultation of the new build Vienna University of Economics and Business (evaluation of building plans)
• consultation and supervision in developing new hiking and nature activities in national parks (National Park Gesäuse)
• evaluation of hotels, restaurants and leisure time facilities (cooperation with Tourism Association of Styria and Graz Tourism)

atempo also developed Nueva, a model to define, evaluate and describe the quality of services out of the perspective of service users.
The department Education and Career provides vocational training measures which are aimed to include them in the first labour market.

Actually atempo employs 72 members of staff who are skilled in various expertises; from teaching trainees with special needs over text writing and designing till software engineering. The expertise of the trainers, how to meet the needs of disadvantaged youth and disabled trainees when learning on the one hand and of the Capito-staff regarding the use of media in presentation units and barrier free communication on the other hand will build the competence basis for this project.
