I am  the CEO of Hope for the Community CiC and  Professor of Health Psychology. I am a  Health & Care Professions Registered Health Psychologist. The aim of Hope for the Community is to provide organisations with tools to empower people to actively engage in the management of their health and wellbeing and to thrive in their working and personal lives. I have been involved in developing, delivering and evaluating self-management programmes for people living with and affected by a long-term physical and mental health conditions for over 20 years. I am recognised as a world leading expert in the field of self-management intervention research. I have published >70 peer reviewed papers and book chapters describing both the impact of living with a LTC and the most effective interventions to help people cope. I am the co inventor of the Help to Overcome Problems Effectively (Hope) health coaching and self-management support programme for people living with and affected by multiple sclerosis, cancer, dementia, parent caregivers of children with autism, cardiac and vascular disease, HIV/AIDS and mental health problems. I have trained and supported over 200 people living with and affected by a long-term condition to deliver the Hope Programme. I have a proven track record of winning grant/consultancy income of > £2m.
