One Page Summary

SDG ConX is an expert centre on superdiversity. However, SDG ConX is not a common expert centre with highly educated experts. It is an expert centre where knowledge and information on (sub)cultures in Amsterdam are shared by experience experts.
Experience experts are people representing the communities of visible minorities and newcomers. They are people from different backgrounds with different life stories. They have a lot of knowledge on their cultures and life styles that can be of use to others but often this knowledge remains unseen or unacknowledged. For instance because they live on the edge of society. SDG ConX gives them the opportunity to share their knowledge on their (sub) cultures and the challenges in their lives in a way that suits them. Like telling stories, giving a presentation of organizing a cooking workshop. The activities will take place within the framework of sustainable development goals. For example: how is it to be poor in Amsterdam?

SDG ConX collaborates intensively with governmental and non-governmental organisations in Amsterdam dedicated to local sustainable development goals. Many of them can be found on the so called Sociale Kaart van Amsterdam. The staff and tenants of SDG House exchange information with them on sustainable development goals. But they also help to recruit and select experience experts and -in case they need knowledge themselves- they can hire experience experts connected to SDG ConX.

The first project of SDG ConX will be a community movie composed of video fragments made by experience experts on their own mobile phones. The movie will give an insight in living in a superdiverse city and contribute to a better understanding of other cultures. Like the Royal Tropical Institute. And therefore SDG ConX is a modern solution with historical roots.
