Powered by our network A City Made By People, our mission is to creatively raise awareness about social and urban issues and empower citizens, brands and organisations to work together to find innovative solutions.

Emerging from the network A City Made By People, which has 100+ correspondents in 25 cities celebrating city life and culture, as well as citizens who are helping to make their cities more liveable, Made By People Lab recently launched in Amsterdam.
Emerging from the network A City Made By People, which has 100+ correspondents in 25 cities celebrating city life and culture, as well as citizens who are helping to make their cities more liveable, Made By People Lab recently launched in Amsterdam.
Our mission is to unite municipalities, organisations and citizens across our network to collaboratively explore social, urban issues through a creative lens.
As part of our launch, we recently hosted a series of experiences and events in Amsterdam earlier this year exploring a number of themes:
CREATIVITY x LIVEABILITY
We hosted a conference exploring what liveability means in Amsterdam and the strategies and actions the municipality are taking to make our capital better, as well as the role organizations, brands and citizens can play in positively impacting the city.
FOOD x LONELINESS
It is estimated that approximately 300,000 citizens feel lonely in Amsterdam. So we teamed up with Zoku and hvo Querido to connect to the socially isolated by organising a ‘buddy-dinner’. This buy-one-give-one initiative brought isolated members of the community together to and meet new people and break the loneliness cycle.
PHOTOGRAPHY x MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health is a silent killer across developed societies. This project culminated in an exhibition in collaboration with TOMS, The Photography Movement and Mind.NL charity to break the taboo around mental health and open up the conversation for citizens. We briefed ten local Amsterdam photographers to shine a light on the topic and bring it out of the darkness, either through a personal story or that of a subject.
