Five Social Challenges were submitted from Leeuwarden-Friesland, varying from elderly care in small villages to the search for ‘hidden entrepreneurship’ and talent development for immigrants. BDF placed the social challenges on the social innovation platform and we are now looking for innovative solutions

Business Development Friesland is selected to be one of the 20 European Social Challenge Nodes of the Social Challenge Innovation Platform. “A great opportunity for Frisian Entrepreneurs, authorities and educational insititutes”, says Frank Hiddink of BDF. “There are only two social Challenge nodes selected in the Netherlands: Impact Hub in Amsterdam and BDF in Leeuwarden. In our role as a node, we are going to look for both challenge owners and solution providers in Friesland and beyond”.

The regional challenges that are published on the Social Challenges Innovation Platform will receive possible solutions from all over the EU. The challenge owner selects, together with a team of the platform, the best solution and organisation that can start working on the challenge. On the other hand, the platform offers (start-up) entrepreneurs and other social innovators the opportunity to get funded €30.000,- to solve one of the social challenges that are published on the platform. 
 
Till September 10th, regional challenge owners could submit their social challenge to BDF.

Companies and organisations from all over Europe can submit their innovative solution for the total of 30 EU challenges until December 15th. The best solutions will be funded by the European Commision with €30.000,- so that the challenges can actually be solved.
