I was raised as a TCK, Third Culture Kid (TCK) which is a term used to refer to children who were raised in a cultures outside of their parents' culture for a significant part of their development years. I was born in Spokane, WA USA but my family moved many times thereafter to Alaska, Nevada, Salt Lake City, and South America. As a child growing up, I moved every two to three years. Sound familiar? I graduated from Nido de Aguilas the International School of Santiago Chile. I received my Undergraduate in Psychology from the University of Alaska Anchorage and then went on to receive my Masters Degree in Education from Washington State University. I completed Principal Certification from the Principal Training Center this summer.
I have a husband who also has a love for travel, a 10 year old daughter who was born in Seattle, WA, a 7 year old daughter who was born in Stockholm, Sweden and a 5 year old daughter who was born in Washington D.C. We spend our vacations traveling all over the world hiking, snorkeling, swimming, skiing, and biking.
I started my international teaching career with Stockholm International School about 8 years ago as a English and Humanities teacher in the MYP. My husband was then transferred back to Washington D.C. where I worked at Washington International School, then we were transferred to Seattle and eventually back to Stockholm where I worked as a vice principal at Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm and then went to SIS as Dean of Students for the 2016/2017 academic year. And now, I’m an extremely excited to be Principal and Head of International at Futuraskolan International School of Stockholm.
