I’m a woman, mother and migrant. I was born in Peru in 1978, through my life I had the opportunity to study Social and Political Sciences, Law and then I made a master’s degree in Post-War Conflict Resolution.

During my first years in Italy, I found myself in some difficult situations that migrants have to face when arrived in a new country. This was an opportunity, because it pushed me to learn a new language and all the administrative, legal and sanitary system rules, with which I began teaching to and sharing with another migrant women. From that moment on, I realized I wanted to work with women going through migration by themselves, and I got certified in Intercultural Mediation at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.
In the last 3 years, I have been working for “Saperi Tradizionali” project managed by the NGO La Fate Onlus in Verona, Italy. I am responsible for two different spaces working with narrative and handmade labor: “Farfilò” (in English, to weave) and “Manolavoraboccaparla” (Hands work while mouth talks), where women share their knowledge and stories.

The most important achievement of this work has been to learn and recognize other migrant women’s desires and dreams. This lead me to create a new project for migrant women called “Sapori d’ascoltare”, in which through experimental dinners, involving open kitchen labs and narratives (explaining and sharing with guests, invited to meet a new culture and not just tasting new food), they develop and acquire new competences, supporting their integration into work life.
