My name is Ioanna and I live in Athens, Greece. 

I studied History of Art, Film and Television in the UK, where I lived for almost 8 years. 

I've been back to Greece since 2004, working for production companies and television channels. 

I am a lover of cities, if such a thing exists, and a great believer in our capacity to change for the better. Even during these very difficult times that Greece has been going through, I have marvelled at the birth and bloom of countless initiatives by people who take it upon themselves to make a positive impact. 

I had been gradually getting more and more involved in such initiatives, for the environment, for education and for social inclusion until 2015, when I met Nadir, an Afghan refugee, through the Refugees Welcome initiative. We quickly became friends and saw that we have a very similar approach to tackling the problems we encounter. In January 2017 we founded We Need Books, an NGO that uses books as a means for social integration and inclusion. Since then we are growing, as people and as an organisation. 

What else can I tell you about myself? I am an urban gardener, I have a cat and a dog, I am a lindy hop dancer, I read a lot and I travel as much as I can.
