Introduction

Moodmix smart devices are designed to encourage older adults to report their mood daily to trigger gradually a positive change in their behaviour. They are designed to serve an universal audience covering people with physical impairments (hearing and visual impairments) and IT illiterates.
The system is integrated into the senior citizen environment. It can adapt to the specific needs of each individual and evolve as the care needs of the individual changes.

Our value proposition is unique because …

We do not provide a device but a modular system
. A modular solution that can be customised and adapted to suit the individual user needs and their context: care needs, space available, budget, physical and mental state, connectivity, preferences.

We serve an universal audience. Our devices can integrate visual effects, voice, sound and touch interactions covering IT illiterate citizens, people with visual impairment, people with hearing impairment.

We use open software and hardware. Our system is based on open standards making it easier to scale and integrate with hundreds of third party components like smart devices, sensors and online services.

Most of self reporting app users do not stick to it as they find it repetitive and boring. We embed the mood self reporting into an activity they care about. We add challenge and surprise to increase engagement.

How it works

Our system can collect, analyse and provide real time feedback (and insights) to build understanding and trigger positive sustainable change.

In 2016, we launched Active Pathways, a programme to encourage older adults to become more active. As with this challenge, the mission of our project was to raise awareness, help users to self-report their progress and build progressively positive change through intrinsic motivation.

So far, 2000 participants have taken our 7-day taster programme with great success.

“This programme lets you make small changes that will change your life”

“This programme has made me look at life not as a routine but an adventure. Each day it gave me loads to think about.”

We can adapt and integrate our programme into our system of connected devices helping senior citizens to become more aware of how they feel, integrate positive routines into their daily lives, make progress visible and drive sustainable positive change into their lives.

Data collected will help social services to understand and trigger prompt action.

We will have an emergency button to trigger immediate response.
