Stichting Keti Koti Tafel (Keti Koti Table Foundation) brings black and white Dutch people together to engage in a dialogue about the traces of the shared history of slavery and colonialism. The event provides a safe and intimate space created specifically developed rituals which draw from Surinamese culture and usually a shared – reconstructed – slave meal. The dialogue itself is guided and structured by the facilitators, with an emphasis on listening and mutual understanding, during which participants are invited to share personal emotions, experiences, and insights.

As a member of the foundation I am always thinking about effective ways which contribute to the healing of the so-called 'colonial wound'. My background in decolonial thinking provides the theoretical framework to help me to make sense of the complex problems we face in our modern world, and simultaneously provide guidelines for the solutions to these problems.
