One Page Summary

Our group’s goal is to create a mind controlled, EEG technology based computer mouse and keyboard what provides aid for people with fully or mostly paralyzed muscle and speech functions, the condition known as: locked-in syndrome. Also to establish an NGO to provide this technology to the people who needs it. It will improve the life of the already disabled ones and of those who just knows that they are facing this condition due to a medical diagnoses, for example muscular dystrophy or sclerosis multiplex.

This project combines three students work: one mechatronic engineer’s thesis about mind controlled keyboard and mouse and two already done business management theses what establishes the institutional background and financial system for widespread distributions of these solutions. Further plan is to create an electrical wheelchair what could be controlled with the similar hardware setup, therefore the interface part will be cheaper and smaller than all of the currently existing solutions.

This project is highly scalable because although this combination of hardware doesn’t exist according to our research, but all hardware components are already accessible on the market and relatively cheap. Our contribution is finding the unique combination of existing hardware parts, to connect them with each other and acquire the needed software.
