One Page Summary

SINGA Stuttgart strives for an inclusive society that embraces diversity, and for an innovative economy that allows everyone, regardless of their background, to realize their professional and social potential. Our mission is to bring locals and people from migrant and refugee backgrounds together to engage collaboratively in social, professional and entrepreneurial projects.
SINGA means "connection" and that is the core of what we do. By creating spaces that enable a mutual exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge amongst equals we aim to redefine the current language and practice of integration. These spaces represent labs in which innovative solutions to societal challenges are developed together.
Four core activities; the Language cafe, Living rooms events, Mentoring and the SINGA Business Lab build the foundation of SINGA. With these activities we enable the people to be fully immersed into the society they are living in. Learning the language in a social environment enables active participation in the local community and the Living room events encourage social ties to form. Both our mentoring program and the SINGA Business lab empowers newcomers to build their own professional future.
Since it's founding in Paris, France 2012 the success of the innovative concept of SINGA has won several awards and the network is steadily growing. SINGA has established labs in Canada, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Great Britain and Switzerland.
In Berlin, since the first SINGA Sprachcafé in March 2016, 78 Sprachcafés have taken place with about 10-15 participant each week. With the first Living Room Storytelling having taken place in 2016, to date over 450 people have been welcomed to a total of 35 Living Room events. Half of the events have been hosted by newcomers. The Mentoring Program was successful with 86 tandems in which over 2/3 of the mentees were able to find an internship or job. The first SINGA Business Lab in 2017 has lead to successful founding of three newcomer businesses.

By creating another SINGA Lab in Stuttgart we strive to scale our impact in order to further:

  • Connect newcomers and locals to share passions and talents and actively create an inclusive society.
  • Co-create social projects and events and community-led volunteering.
  • Support newcomer entrepreneurs to found successful, scalable, innovative businesses.
  • Change public perceptions about newcomers and their potential, and inspire other newcomers to pursue their ambitions.
