The Challenge

There are almost 25% of senior citizens in the Republic of Croatia living in single households (758,633 individuals, or 17.7% of the total population), they are in a constant risk of social exclusion, suffering the impacts of loneliness. Those living alone are a very vulnerable group of the elderly because they often cannot perform daily tasks, and experience mental stress facing loneliness. There is no service which would satisfy all non-existential needs of the elderly. Furthermore, there is no way of linking the elderly with helpers who would provide them with the help they need. Also, there is no way of assessing both senior citizens and help providers, and making sure that both sides can engage in a meaningful relationship with total trust.

The Solution

CareNet 365 is a cloud based platform designed to lessen the day-to-day burden of caring for someone or being cared for. Enabling better communication, planning & scheduling of the informal healthcare network.

For Zajednički put the platform can be used to:

- coordinate care, share and galvanise support

- use the platform to co-ordinate care for single household seniors 

- offer this service to seniors who have existing informal carers (family/friends) who may have not been able to do this care otherwise

- empower seniors who are able to use this technology to take care of organising their own informal care

The platform exists to "galvanise support". When a family member is taken ill, the burden of care often falls on the closest to them who become their carer or to public service organisations. For informal carers this is a huge weight to carry and carers can quickly become isolated. 87% of carers say that caring for someone has had a negative impact on their own health. Public services are often limited. Coordinating care is as much of a task as the caring – often it is easier for carers to just do everything themselves and public services cannot meet the demand. CareNet 365 is a simple online tool which allows the carer (individual or organisation) to coordinate the care and share it with others, galvanising much needed support. Using a software platform such as ours, we believe that in the mid to long-term, we can help reduce the problem.

- Simple access for the carer and their friends and relative for support 

- An easy to use diary and expression of wishes allows people to pick care slots and tasks that they can manage 

- Leave messages and communicate easily between the carer and supporters 

- Manage shopping, hospitals appointments and trips to park
- Maybe even roster in someone to visit so the carer can have time for themselves

Competitors
There are number of competitors in this area. Compared to CareNet 365 Jointly offers a UK limited, end user only solution. Rallyround is offered only through third party and has limited functionality. Tyze has outdated information and limited functionality.

Existing solution
CareNet365 is built on a well-proven & robust platform using rapid development techniques. We are able to adapt & modify any element is short time, adding further functionality generally takes less time than traditional coding methods. The system is currently live but unpublicised whilst we run through several evaluation projects. Running alongside the live system, we have a branch that is development only, once updates are completed and tested, the branch switches to the live system.
