PlantaRES is a project that seeks to involve the community in the care and use of the city roofs. A large amount of urban space is underutilized in today's cities. Traditionally in Spain and other countries, roofs have been a place of coexistence to play with the children, sunbathe, make barbecues. The roofs and terraces have also been for domestic use to hang the washing, to clean the carpets. A green culture has been also traditional with flowerpots, medicinal plants and horticulture. But we are living a frantic time, where there is no time to take care of our roofs. With our methodology we want to raise awareness and sensitize citizens about climate change and other economic and social issues with the aim of involving them to participate actively in the mitigation of climate change using and managing their community roofs with vegetation as well as the installation of clean energy that can contribute to a lower ecological footprint. With PlantaRES we want to promote the philosophy of the circular economy to reduce the consumption of energy and water, reuse materials, recycle. Create networks of coexistence. Networks of romantic rural relationships in the city. These places of coexistence will decrease the needs on health services of the elder people and improve the social relations of the community.


PlantaRES is being tested at the time in Seville at espacio_RES, a social innovation project that has become a foundation after three years of existence. Espacio_RES is a social incubator in the south of Spain. It is a new model of social innovation in which people of a multidisciplinary nature carry out their business and life projects, based on their own talent and promoted through cooperation and the creation of shared value. For this, RES seeks to provide its community with an inspiring work space, an innovative and creative environment, specific training for the project, specialised mentoring, a lot of professional experience and access to investment and other entrepreneurial drive engines. The goal of Espacio RES is to cultivate the entrepreneurial spirit of the community and to improve the skills of the people who develop their startups there. LaPlasita is co-founder of espacio_RES and part of the management team. Laplasita takes care of the space including the terraces. As an awareness and relational tool, LaPlasita develops the project plantaRES to engage the users of this social incubator and the community related to it in the design, construction and maintenance of the terraces.
