The Be (e) Green project is aimed at young people living with disabilities in the Appennino Bolognese area. At the end of an agricultural training program, students will be employed in a company managing public and private green spaces and beekeeping.

One Page Summary

In today’s financial crisis, where companies face many struggles and are forced to lay off workers, many unemployed people living with disabilities do not have access to the workplace. This trend is particularly prevalent in small mountainous areas, with few artisan and industrial companies which are becoming more difficult in their recruitment process, despite the skills required for the job. It is often challenging for young people with disabilities to find a job once out of compulsory school. Youth unemployment rate is estimated at 35% and the national unemployment rate is 11% (national data, 2017).
The Be (e) Green project is aimed at young people living with disabilities in the Appennino Bolognese area. The students included in the project will be participating in an agricultural training program. At the end of the program, successful students will be offered a job with a company managing public and private green spaces, beekeeping and abandoned chestnut forest restoration. In order to enhance the agricultural industry and the natural resources of the Apennino, a beekeeping training program will also be offered focusing on the collection of pollen. People living with disabilities enrolled the project will be trained following an innovative training methodology called "Learning while doing " [Formazione in situazione]
Through specialized internships and activities, students will learn the basics of the job while interacting with people and other workers. The goal is motivate and empower the students while they learn on the job and develop the required skills and competences.
